Officials claim that a baggage handler at a New Orleans airport passed away after getting her hair caught in a belt loader’s equipment, know about basketball player Jermani Thompson
The strange incident happened around 10 p.m. while Jermani Thompson, 26, was unloading a Frontier Airlines plane that was parked at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. On Tuesday, a spokesperson told WVUE-TV.
Thompson was an accomplished basketball player, who had played as Hesston College in Kansas and Tougaloo College in Mississippi
According to the station, the horrific incident happened on the “apron,” which is where planes are maintained, loaded, and unloaded. Thompson was rushed to the hospital after the incident, where doctors eventually declared her dead. Frontier subsequently postponed one flight for Wednesday.
An airline representative issued a statement to Nola.com on behalf of the company, saying that they extend their heartfelt condolences following the terrible death of a member of their ground handling business partner.
During this trying moment, our thoughts are with her family and loved ones. According to information, Thompson works for GAT Airline Ground Support. GAT CEO Mike Hough told Nola.com that they are heartbroken and are helping her family and her friends as best they can.
Her distressed mother told the news outlet that Thompson was a talented basketball player who had played for Hesston College in Kansas and Tougaloo College in Mississippi. In an interview on Wednesday, Angela Dorsey stated, “She was my little child and everyone loved her.” She simply lacks the words to respond. She is speechless and unable to even think.
Sadly, strange occurrences like these do occur occasionally. To just remove her hair before it was too late, I wish someone had been around. To ensure that something similar doesn’t occur again, I’m sure they’ll make it a requirement going forward that you wear your hair up or in a cap.
